HUMANITIES AND LIBERAL ARTS GRAD PROGRAMS
Curiosity is part of what defines and drives us as human beings. Humanities and liberal arts address some of the most essential human questions, problems and possibilities, and if you're ready to take this investigation and reflection to a deeper level, consider graduate study in the humanities and liberal arts. Master's and doctoral degrees are available in fields like anthropology, classics, comparative literature, English, foreign languages and cultures (for instance French, German, Italian, Spanish, East Asian studies, Latin American studies, First Nations studies), history, international studies, linguistics, media studies, philosophy, politics/ political science, psychology, religious studies, Slavic languages and literature, sociology, and more. You can also take professional degrees in applied humanities, such as a master's in arts management, cultural studies, museum studies, history and archival studies, applied women's studies and more. While taking a common grounding of core courses, graduate students in humanities and liberal arts generally have a lot of control over the design of their program and can take independent study courses under the direction of individual faculty members. There are also many opportunities for joint degrees with other disciplines so that you can tailor your program to your own intellectual interests, talents and career goals. Different types of graduate schools--such as Catholic, Christian, Jewish, women's and historically black--can also give you a different context for and perspective on the humanities and liberal arts.
